On Wednesday, October 18, 2023 the Central Government granted its approval for a 4 percent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for government employees and pensioners . As a result, central government employees will now receive a total of 46 percent in DA and relief, up from the previous 42 percent. This DA raise will take effect from July 1, 2023.
This decision has been made amidst the current festive season and is being seen as an early ‘Diwali Gift’ for 4.7 million central government employees and 6.8 million pensioners.
